Investment of the Israeli Company New Med Energy in the Gas Supply Chain in Morocco

New Med Energy is active in the exploration, development, and production of natural gas and condensates, in order to map the supply chain of oil and gas in Israel. it was found that the company has invested in the gas industry in Morocco. In 2022, it was reported that New Med Energy was looking to enter the gas exploration sector in Morocco.

Yossi Abu, the CEO of New Med Energy, stated:
“NewMed Energy, along with international partners, is seeking energy markets and, in particular, opportunities for natural gas exploration in Morocco. The economy of this country and its energy market have significant potential and will provide a sustainable environment for long-term investment.”
The CEO refrained from providing details about specific projects they have in mind, but he mentioned that their goal is exploration in Morocco based on the high potential for local consumption and proximity to the European market [1].
In 2020, Morocco joined a small group of Arab countries to normalize its relations with Israel under U.S.-backed agreements known as the Abraham Accords.
